Kate and Daniel's No-Less Than Perfect Wedding!

Kate – our recent bride, bought a GAIA Bridal gown from our boutique, and since we treat our brides like family, we wanted to get the full story of how Kate met her Prince Charming – Daniel. This is her rehashing every bit of the fairytale.
How did the two of you meet?
We both went to the University of Southampton 10 years ago and were in the same student halls. Daniel studied Chemistry, and I studied Biochemistry - and as my maid of honour said during her speech, we picked the right subjects - the chemistry was real.

How did your partner propose?
This is my favourite story, and it was on a beautiful paradise Island just off of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, called Isla Grande. We went for a two-week adventure which included staying on a floating lodge on the Amazon River, and Daniel had the ring hidden with him the entire time. When we got to Isla Grande, he told me he'd booked a sunset island tour. I had no idea what was in store, but we met our 'tour guide', got on a speedboat and went to a quiet secluded beach to be the 'tour'.
Here the guide started to film us both, whilst telling us about the history of the Island - which I thought was odd but went with it. As we continued to walk, we stumbled onto a gorgeous beach, with the sun setting over the crystal blue waters, and there on the sand was a candlelit walkway, picnic blanket, my favourite flowers, champagne, and chocolates.

It was here that Daniel asked me to be his forever. In our very own slice of paradise. Turns out our tour guide was a local fisherman Daniel had hired to pull off his secret plan, and they'd been liaising from across the globe for months. The entire thing had been recorded for me to keep, and it's a video I love rewatching. If this wasn't special enough, Daniel had also hired an entire restaurant in a secluded bay for a starlight dinner on the beach. It's a memory I will never forget.

What was the most special part of your wedding day?

I couldn't pick just one, but these were my top three: seeing the joy on everyone's faces at being together again after being apart for so long, the look on Daniel's face when he first saw me appear down the aisle and having my mum and brother walk me down the aisle. My brother has had a long, hard mental health battle, and his being well and strong enough to walk me down the aisle was such a heart-warming moment for all.

Any wisdom for future Sophie Grace Bridal Brides?

When looking for your dress, try on everything, even the styles you think really won't suit you, you might surprise yourself. Be prepared for things to go wrong and accept that some things are out of your control, even if you are the most prepared and organized bride EVER! Enjoy every second of it.

It all goes by so fast. Make sure you are really happy with your chosen photographer and that you gel with them; they're such an important part of your day and are there for all your most intimate moments - I cannot recommend ours, Laura Miller, enough. Focus your energy (and money) on things your guests care about - the food, drink and entertainment.
