Imogen and Jimmy tie the knot

Imogen – our latest bride, donned a Ladybird Bridal gown called Emilia. With beauty at its peak, Imogen shined the brightest as she walked down the aisle. Let’s hear it from the woman in question herself.

While Imogen was looking gorgeous than ever in her dress, we snuck in a few questions, hoping to hear her beautiful love story. Here’s what she had to say:

How did the two of you meet?

“We met whilst still at school! In the sixth form, some of my friends moved to his school, so we ended up at parties together. It wasn’t long before we started dating, and we’ve been together ever since. Through university on different sides of the country, jobs just as far apart, and having to live apart during the pandemic, we’ve made it through!”

Tell us something about your bridal accessories?

“The veil and headpiece I wore is a family heirloom that has been used since 1900, my mum passed away a few years ago, and so I really wanted to use it as she used it on her wedding day. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn’t find a dress to match it, and it was all quite emotional, but everyone at Sophie grace was just so lovely. They all immediately got how important it was to me and were so kind!”

How did your partner propose?

Looking at Imogen and Jimmy, we knew for sure they’re one of those couples who enjoy the outdoors a lot – coupling as many adventures they can. Here’s what Imogen had to say about Jimmy’s proposal:

“For my birthday, Jimmy took us up to the Lake District for a long weekend. We went on the coldest (my birthday is in November), the windiest and snowiest walk ever up Old Man Coniston.

While overlooking Levers Waters, he said the romantic phrase ‘I suppose here is as good as anywhere and got down on one knee. I obviously burst into tears but also giggles and said yes!”

If this isn’t the cutest marriage proposal, we don’t know what is!

What was the most special part of your wedding day?

“For me, it was the drive from the church to the venue. It was such a moment of happiness, but also calm, on a hugely exciting day. We just caught up on lots of little details from the morning and couldn’t stop smiling at each other. For Jimmy, it was saying our vows. We’ve been together for such a long time (11 years!) and finally, being married was the most wonderful feeling.”

What’s the best thing about being married?

“It hasn’t changed much practically: we work the same jobs, see the same friends, and argue about washing up the same as before. But it’s still just SO special. Jimmy is my husband, and I’m his wife. We’re linked in a way that is so meaningful, and we always will be!

Everyone always says, ‘I married my best friend, but everyone says it because it’s true. We get to spend our whole lives together with the person who makes us happiest, and there is nothing that can compare.”

Any wisdom for future Sophie Grace Bridal Brides?

“Don’t sweat the small things! We were never too picky during planning, but the small matter of COVID 19 put some spanners in the works. I was so worried that people would be upset about little things like masks, no bar service, and one-way systems, but in the end, everyone is just delighted to be celebrating your marriage, and you’ll be so blissfully happy that you just don’t notice anything.”
Thank you, Imogen, for allowing Sophie Grace Bridal to be a part of your special day. We wish you and Jimmy a lifetime of health and happiness!
