Angela and Ben's Vintage Romance
Today’s wedding is pure, simple and totally beautiful. Angela and Ben got married in August at The Oakley Hall Hotel. Everything went off without hitch and the couple could not have asked for a more romantic or special day surrounded by loved ones. Our gorgeous bride Angela wore an Ellis bridals gown on her big day. A stunning minimalist crepe fit and flare gown. It features a delicately beaded bodice and a deep v-back. She looked fabulous in her gown!
The wedding was visually incredible: Elegant and timeless, the vintage romance theme continued with fresh greens, pink & white florals, and sophisticated table décor. They used Blossom Avenue Events for the LOVE letters, neon and welcome signs. We also love the beautiful glamours wedding cake designed by the couple and the cake maker. I seriously can’t wait for you to see all of the amazing details from this romantic wedding—including some awesome DJ'ing by the groom!
Brides’ vow — she wrote a personal poem for Ben. It was a truly unforgettable moment - just look at Bens' reaction! It’s unreal how adorable they are. It was a perfect wedding filled with emotion and tender moments. Read on to hear more about Angela and Ben’s special day!
How did the two of you meet?
We met online (match.com). I had been single for 2 years and was at an age where I didn't want to go out as much as I used to, and my parents actually told me to go online. I didn't want to but my mum literally forced me to over lunch one Saturday (refusing the leave the restaurant until I signed up), and I met my now husband three weeks later....lucky for me as he was literally about to come off match and give the dating game a rest! We were very lucky in that we clicked straight away and spoke everyday thereafter. We found out we have worked at the same places before (but somehow never crossed paths), I have holidayed at his aunties house, and we have friends in common...there are quite a few other connections too! After three months together, we bought our house (which if you'd told me I'd do that a few years ago, I would've said you were mad), but flash forward 3 years later and we're beyond happy.
How did your partner propose?
We went on holiday to Valencia in June 2018 and my husband planned a walk down to the old riverbeds, which they have now made into a park. There were rows of jacaranda trees, so he told me to stand in front of one to take my picture. He put his rucksack on the ground, bent on one knee and pretended he was trying to get the camera out....but out came a black box and he opened it and asked me to marry him! We decided to theme our wedding cake on the jacaranda tree, so it was a captured memory to fondly look back on.
What was the most special part of your wedding day?
I would say the ceremony...walking down the aisle to see my soon to be husband for the first time, and seeing his reaction of seeing me for the first time is a memory that will always stay with me. We were in our own little bubble, where it was just the two of us and it just felt so perfect.
Any wisdom for future Sophie Grace Bridal Brides?
Be open minded and not to fixed on 'that dress'. I had in my head what I thought I wanted but it looked awful on my body type. The dress I ended up choosing is what the consultant chose for me, and had she not chosen it, I would never have tried it on. On the hanger, the dress actually didn't do much for me but when it was on, it totally transformed how it looked. It's also very important to only have people there who will give you an honest opinion. It can be very overwhelming, so having people who will support you really is key.
What's the best thing about being married?
The security it gives you. You're a team and you have each other's back for the rest of your lives. Nothing has changed in terms of our relationship, as we've been together a while, and lived together for a couple of years, but you have an almost deeper connection. It's a lovely feeling.
Many congratulations to Angela and Ben and a huge thank you for sharing your incredible wedding with us! We wish you only the best as your adventure continues! Loving Angela’s wedding dress? Check out our Ellis Bridals collection HERE.
